There is no shippment to Iraq

It was good book but unfortunately till now there is no immediate shippment to Iraq, I asked a friend in US to receive the book from Amazon, then ship it to Iraq. There are many international post agents are working in Iraq like DHL, Aramex, Pole Poste, TNT. I wish Amazon to take that in its consideration as there is promising prospective market in Iraq especially North of Iraq which is stable region in compare with other Iraqi parts.

About the Author
The diversity of life has always fascinated me; but the systematics of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians was blown away by the expansiveness and degree of unknown of the fishes. Few people had "companion animals" overseas, but many friends had bowls and aquariums with goldfish, guppies and other tropicals. I was born in Rhode Island, the smallest State of the U.S. but grew up in the orient as my father was career military. We had very few jobs "on base" for the "dependents" but I was fortunate to secure employment at a fish store that was associated with a restaurant in downtown Sasebo. Other vainglorious work overseas includes two years working for a Betta culture business, collecting and processing marines in Manila. Back to the U.S. in the late sixties I stuck to the trade as a retail clerk, a livestock wholesale worker (for Pratt's in San Diego), and eventually formed an aquarium service business with a school friend. This business cycled larger and smaller, and supported me all through college and beyond. It eventually became an employee-owned corporation with aquaristic retail outlets, fabrication (principally large acrylic systems), water feature construction, manufacturing and distribution divisions. Subsequent to the tax law changes, water-shortage "scare", and general decline in the California and U.S. economy in the late eighties these businesses were sold and liquidated. I worked for three years as a consultant and buyer for the mass-merchandiser PetCo in their bid to upgrade their stores, incorporating livestock. Is there a difference between what you do for money and for a living? Not me. Nowadays I write articles and books for the diving/underwater natural history and ornamental aquatics interests, and manage my rentals and securities. I browse the electronic bulletin boards to "chat" with others daily, and often travel, to go "hashing" (sort of running), writing and photographing with friends around the world.

What Betta owners *need* to know

Bob Fenner is one of the big names in fishkeeping. He's been published in pretty much every aquarium magazine out there, mostly about marine fishkeeping. But he's an old hand at betta keeping and breeding, and this book is a summary of what he's learned over the years.

The book starts off with a few pages looking at bettas in general, briefly discussing their biology in the wild before quickly getting into a summary of the major varieties, illustrated with nice sharp colour images. This is followed up by a page on selecting healthy specimens. It's easy to overlook this step when shopping, but Bob provides some useful tips here that will help you avoid many common problems from the get-go.

A crucial section then follows giving advice on things like tank size, tankmates, plants and all the other bits and pieces that go towards creating a viable aquarium. Bob understands the pitfalls betta-owners are liable to make, and gives some warnings about the sorts of tankmates and aquarium ornaments to avoid, even where the retailer might be suggesting otherwise! He also stresses the importance of setting up the tank before buying your betta, and explains how shortcomings on the maintenance side of things invariably end up creating health problems for your betta. This ties in nicely with the sections on diet and aquarium maintenance, both of which are easily overlooked by first-time fishkeepers. He also offers sensible tips on things like vacations and tap water usage that should make betta-keeping immeasurably easier and more successful. A couple of pages are devoted to betta breeding, too.

Anyone familiar with Bob's articles will recognise his sometimes quirky writing style at once. It's informal but well-informed, and virtually anyone with even the vaguest desire to keep their pet betta properly will find this book an easy reed. It's not aimed at expert fishkeepers with basements filled with high-tech aquaria, but rather at the dorm- or apartment-dweller with limited options so far as pets go, and desiring to keep a pretty betta successfully but without too much trouble or expense.

Any niggles? Layout isn't uniform throughout and lacks gloss. Italics aren't used for Latin names, as they should be. Contents page doesn't hyperlink to particular pages in the text; no index at all. But these are minor flaws. Bottom line, for less than the price of a decent beer, Bob's little book of bettas should save a lot of fish lives and provide a lot of useful help to first-time fishkeepers.

Very little information

This is a pamphlet, not a book, with little information of any value that you wouldn't get with a quick Google. It's sloppily edited, the captions don't follow the photos properly, and pages are half blank. There are very very few pages that have any Betta specific information. Certainly not worth the price, and I made a mistake buying it. I'm actually confused as to why this was given good ratings at all.

Betta Success book

I've read most of this book, & it's to help me take care of our new betta fish. He's happy with his temporary home. His new tank is on its way. The book has one philosophy of fish care, & recommends not using tons of chemical algae cleaners, water clarifiers, etc. I bought a bunch of stuff for just that, which I will now return. I also bought an aquarium guide for starting an aquarium. I'm going the easiest, simplest route possible. I'm no chemical. I think I just thought that these products for fish aquariums would be safe & non-chemical, but they're not.

Gender equity, the contributors to Beyond Barbie and Mortal Kombat argue, requires more than increasing the overall numbers of female players. Beyond Barbie and Mortal Kombat brings together new media theorists, game designers, educators, psychologists, and industry professionals, including some of the contributors to the earlier volume, to look at how gender intersects with the broader contexts of digital games today: gaming, game industry and design, and serious games. The contributors discuss the rise of massively multiplayer online games (MMOs) and the experience of girl and women players in gaming communities; the still male-dominated gaming industry and the need for different perspectives in game design; and gender concerns related to emerging serious games (games meant not only to entertain but also to educate, persuade, or change behavior). Yasmin B. Kafai is a Professor of Learning Sciences at the Graduate School of Education at University of Pennsylvania. Her research has focused on children's learning as players and designers of educational software, video games, and virtual worlds. She has published Minds in Play (1995) and edited Constructionism in Practice (with Mitchel Resnick, 1996). She lives, plays, and works in Philadelphia.

Jill Denner is Senior Research Associate at ETR Associates, a nonprofit agency in California.

Jennifer Y. Sun is President and a founder of Numedeon, Inc., the company that launched Whyville.net, an educational virtual world targeted at children ages 8 to 14.

Carrie Heeter is Professor of Serious Game Design in the Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies, and Media, and Creative Director for Virtual University Design and Technology at Michigan State University.

Penis envy has nothing to do with this book

There is a lot of comprehensive research behind this book by ground-breakers in female coding and gaming. The person who wrote about "pennis [sic] envy" is missing the point. If you want to read about the latest research and suggestions concerning gender equity in the gaming industry, this is the book to buy. If you want to read about penis envy, head over to the self-help or psychology section and have a field day.

Does penis envy really exist?

The book documents the attempts to make women play wargames that have now been going on for about twenty years. Almost all, however, have ended in failure. Reading the author's desperate atemps to show that this is not so and that women play the games just as men do, one can only wonder whether Freud, in claiming that what drives women is pennis envy, did not have right on this side.

About the Author
Dr. Clella Jaffe was the Communication Department Chair at George Fox University, Newberg, Oregon (recently retired). In addition to teaching communication courses at George Fox, she has taught at St. John's University (Queens) and Oregon State. For many years, she also taught oral interpretation of literature and coached and judged forensics competitions. Dr. Jaffe received her B.A. from Seattle Pacific University, earned her M.Ed. and Ph.D. from Oregon State University, and completed additional graduate work at the University of Washington.

Easy to read; A Good book for Reference for any type of speech!

I like this book because it gives clear and exact instructions, tips, and examples for many different types of speeches such as informative(research based), eulogies, persuasive speeches. etc.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is taking a public speaking course. I have found it to be a useful study guide for me in this class that I'm taking now.

Simple and well written

I bought this book used, so I cannot say anything about how good the online service is.
The book though is nice; it was very easy to read. It doesn't get too far into esoteric theories of communication that I don't care about. It mainly focuses on actual public speaking, from addressing anxiety to writing/delivering a speech.

Is there a nice way to say that a book sucks?

First of all this isn't a book, its more of a informational paper without any real depth, so just a paper of sorts. It's more of a advert for TI chips without the showmanship of a good advert. If you have enough time to read this book (5 mins), then you have enough time to download any of the BLE Software Development Kits and start working on a project. The book offered no further insights than a basic Google search about the BLE stack and a TI chipset data sheet would provide. I realize the price of the book was low and since I have a prime account it was free, that being said "I got ripped off!".

A complete waste of time, even for something that's free. Badly formatted, at least on the Kindle, no explanations or underlying theory, and really, who uses an 8051 these days? It was old in 1986, let alone 2016.

The term nutraceutical refers to components of foods or dietary supplements with medicinal or therapeutic effects. The increasing acceptance of alternative, complementary, and integrative medicine means that people need information about these substances. Because the Food and Drug Administration does not regulate them, there are no standards for manufacturing and efficacy, so the quality varies widely.

Nutraceuticals provides accurate information about the use of these preparations. After a brief historical introduction, information appears in three sections. The "Directory of Nutraceuticals" is an alphabetical list of diseases and conditions. Each entry includes a description of the condition, its symptoms, conventional treatments, and nutraceuticals that may be useful. Sidebars list myths and facts and strategies for relief. The editors, physicians who practice integrative medicine, encourage readers to consult their doctors about the best treatment for their ailments.

The next section, "Top 200 Nutraceuticals," lists the most popular vitamins, minerals, nutritional supplements, and botanicals. Each is defined, and the specific entries provide the recommended daily allowance by age group, why the substance is needed, therapeutic uses and dosages, signs of deficiency and overdose, and the best dietary sources. The history of the substance and cautions for use also appear. Entries for supplements tell users what to look for when choosing one and offer information about evidence for efficacy and potential problems. About the Author
Arthur J. Roberts, M.D., is the co-chairman of the American Nutraceuticals Association; the Founder, President and CEO of Integrated Community Wellness, Inc.; and the Director of the Jersey Shore Heart Institute. Dr. Roberts was trained as a surgeon and cardiac specialist at Yale-New Haven Hospital, the National Institute of Health, and the New York Cornell Hospital. He has held a variety of teaching and research positions including Temple University and Boston University Medical Center.

Genelle Subak-Sharpe is an editorial consultant and book packager whose company, G.S. Sharpe, has produced such notable health reference books as The Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons Complete Home Medical Guide and The Yale University School of Medicine Patient's Guide to Medical Tests.
