The Exorcist's Handbook is one of those rare gems that exude the kind of practical knowledge only acquired through many years of exhaustive work in a unique and challenging esoteric field. Josephine McCarthy deliberately approached the writing of The Exorcist's Handbook in a casual, personal way without any specific magical or religious viewpoint, making it readily accessible to practitioners from a variety of spiritual/magical backgrounds:

This has been fantastic read, breaking down old and potentially dangerous methods most frequently used and acknowledging the diversity within the spirit realm, more than simple: demons bad and angels good but to understand the entities you make contact with and how to deal with various energies.
If you are going to undertake exorcism this is the only book I can recommend and allows you to maintain your own levels of practise whilst steering you away from any poor judgements. Mcarthy is clearly genuine and honest by relaying her own mistakes and showing where people can slip up.

unique take on exorcisms

The author takes a different approach to exorcism than what most people are used to. Utilizing a self created exorcists tarot deck to assist her and she offers the layout of the deck in this book for free. That's just one of the many unique methods found in this book. This author can write, I mean she could probably write a story about making spaghetti and her take on it would most likely be captivating. She also has real magical knowledge and experience going for her and I am starting to see her name being mentioned more often because of the soundness and practicality of her work.
